Cruise on Baltic
Our plans of the long 4 day weekend was shattered when our client informed us that they would be working on Friday. Support work Sucks. But our PM here asked us to plan some kinda get together during the weekend. My colleague started enquiring and finally we ended up with a trip to Mariahme (Why is it that i am always confused when it comes to spelling strange places??) on a one day cruise. We booked for 13 people. The plan was to start from SM on Saturday (27-05-2006) morning, reach the place on one ship and return back to SM by another ship.
Could not have asked for a better start to the day when we saw the bus that would take us to Fruången, pass us when we were so close to the bus stop. Managed to reach Slussen when I received a call from my team mate that the cruise was about to begin and we were the ones who had not reached yet. Had an extended morning walk (rather morning run) from Slussen station to the cruise. Were among the last ones to board the ship.
"Isabella" as the ship was called was good. Went to the deck of the ship directly. We had not booked any cabin as it was only an all day journey. Had discussions on multiple topics there. Came down to the restaurant for breakfast. Went to the liveband and listened to songs from Frensh, Swedish and in all other languages that i do not understand. Went to the buffet section when it was time for lunch. All the dishes looked beautiful except for the ones that were on my plate. Had to be content with dry and hard bread slices, bun, saltless smashed potatoes and salads. My main course for lunch consisted of pateries and ice creams. If its mouth watering, do try it once and second thoughts would start creeping in your mind. Our destination got changed and we were shipped to a place near Finland. Mangaed to catch up some five minutes of my lost sleep during the twenty minute break.
"Amorella" arrived and we all got into it for our retutn trip back to SM. If i found it hard to drag time during my onward journey, it was no better in the return journey. Spent half of my six hour journey with the playing cards. The live band in this ship was a compulsory "Not-to-be-visited" place for non-smokers and non-boozers. Experienced the phrase "Place smelt of alcohol" there. Could not resist the temptation to get out of there for more than ten minutes. Bought Rochere from the tax free shop. Reached SM by 2030 hrs and reached home after an hours travel. My eyes woke up from their deep slumber after having some home made food but by then it was time for me to get some sleep. At the end of the day i was left wondering the answer to the question "How was the cruise??"
P.S:Initially had plans of taking Titanic snaps on the ship. But the ship had no "Rose" on it and I realized at the end of the day, I was not "Jack" either.
