Murphy's Law!!!

"If something can go wrong, then it definitely will."
How true that became today (13 June)???Monday mornings in SM are the same. Reach office early and restart the services machine as it some network problem would have occured and it would have stopped working. And this Monday was no different. Restarted the machine and the machine's remote connectivity was lost. Today I took the initiative to directly go to the place and activate it again. Reached the building where the machines are maintained using my colleague's ID card. Activated the remote connectivity and called my colleagues to check it from our building. No problems at all. Started returning back from the godown (This is a much better word when one actually visualises the place where our production services machine are maintained). Trouble started here.
I was two floors beneath the ground level. Had to use a lift to get back to the ground level. Pressed the button and was waiting for the lift to come down. Sensed some problem when I saw that the light indicating some one had requested for the lift went off as soon as I had released the hand from the button. Waited for nearly ten minutes and not a soul passed me. I had no clue if someone would pass by to help me out. Did not call my friends as I did not want to disturb them. Just then I noticed a guy walking towards me. Was overjoyed at the thought that there was someone with me now to share my agony and he would be able to get both of us out of trouble. Got excited as kept coming closer towards me. He came closer and closer and finally he walked past me. Hiding my disappointment, I approached him and asked him if there was any problem in the lift. He just shrugged his shoulders and kept on moving. My ray of hope had vanished so soon. More than 15 minutes had passed by then. My colleagues called me to know if there was any problem. They were expecting some other kind of problem like being caught by security personnel for entering restricted area without proper access. I explained the problem to them and they said they would come down to help me out. Was waiting patiently for her to come. By now two more guys joined me and they too wanted to go up. They started hitting the doors of the lift loudly so that somebody could hear them but alas of no use. All of us stared at one another exchanging blank looks. After a long time of loud shouts, a service man heard us. We explained the situation to him and taking pity on us, he asked us to come up via a "hidden" staircase that was very close by. Finally reached ground level. My colleague too had come to that building by that time and was analysing the possibilities of trying to bring me up with another worker.
Could not imagine / experience a much better Monday morning.....

Month old in SM

Its a month since I left India..Having landed at SM on 10th May, I am completing a stay of a month here..What all have i gained and what have I lost in this months time??? If i try listing out the losses, missed 2 big treats as two of my close friends celebrated their bdays during this period..And a lot of treats within my team for the bdays, onsite travels etc..Frequesnt visits to my place (Trichy) and my parents there..Am missing Blore's traffic..The long hours that i spend in the bus with the loud horns and the smoke..They are just too gud even if u dislike them when you actually are in the happening place..Badly missing my cubicle in B#36 and its neighbours...Have had some real gud times there..Nice cozy place..The long useless discussions that we have in our house...Gains in staying out of India shall be added in my next post.

Fanaa....Destroyed in Love...

Went for the matinee show of the movie Fanaa..Learnt from my friends that the word meant "Destroyed in Love"...Was sort of mentally prepared for the movie..Reached the theatre half an hour before the movie was to start..But as it was an Indian movie, the show started half an hour late following indian punctuality. Was actually expecting something out of this movie as this is the costliest movie that i have watched since 23 years. Adding to this Kajol was making a comback as well.
The movie began and i was overjoyed to see "Ravi K Chandran" as cinematographer for the movie. I did not realise at the beginning that it would ONLY be his photography that would make me sit till the end of the movie. The photography in the movie was just too good. I do not want to write a review on any movie now in my blog but this was worth mentioning.
I looked into my watch atleast 10 times only during the first half of the movie. The movie was full of illogical stuff right from the beginning. I could hardly concentrate on the movie during the second half. Started wondering about the state of Indian cinema and eventually decided to pen it here.
How can the movie makers be so dumb that they believe any movie that they make would be accepted by the audience? Also started wondering why aren't all directors of the calibre of Maniratnams and shankars. Had they all been the same would our industry not be rated amongst the top now?? There is also a second opinion to this. Had everyone started making good movies then the audience (rather I) would not have the amazing feeling of waiting for a movie to be made by the elite group of directors? would I go for the first option or the second..Am lost again..This has started becoming a routine now wherein i am put into a lot of trouble at the end of the week with such difficult questions.
Back to the movie again. An apt one liner would be - "Destroyed in Love" destroyed me in full.

Totally Lost

Had been to office to do some testing for one of the upcoming release in my account. Was having a feeling to blog today but did not have anything on mind. Anyhow started writing on the immigration problem that could come in my case. All of a sudden, my computer ignorance loomed large and i closed the page without saving it.
A funny incident worth mentioning happened at night when I was watching a movie on some "Cassinova". The situation in the movie is such that the hero is being followed by some powerful guy and his body guards. These folks eventually manage to catch the hero. And the hero says,
"I love your wife
And you love your wife.
Are we not on the same side?"
Is this whatz called as looking at the positive side of life????

Weekendz fast approaching

Why is there a special meaning attached to your life when it is Friday?
  • Coz I can leave office early !!!!!
  • Coz I can watch TV longer
  • Coz I can sleep for more hours
  • Coz I can wake up late
  • Coz I can unite breakfast and lunch
  • Coz I can stay without bath
  • Coz I can be on Orkut/YM/GChat for long
Reasons aplenty..But is it not what I do every weekend other than those weeks when i do not go to office? Why not try to do something different the coming weekend?Have got absolutely no special plans except for going to "Fanaa" on sunday afternoon spending 650 bucks (oooops lot for a crap Hindi movie)..Am not in any mood to work but the situation demands that i work for more time today..Have been working late for the whole of the week but still the work is not done. As the lines in the poetry that i read in my school goes:
"Miles to go before I sleep,
Miles to go before I sleep".
Cheers for a nice weekend. Updates after weekendz long gone.
